NEWMAN, R. Adlington, physician, retired; born in Watlington, Norfolk Co., England; son of William John and Sara A. (Johnson) Newman; received academic education at Victoria College, St. Helier's, Jersey; came to America, 1875; studied medicine in Chicago College of Physicians and Surgeons and at Detroit College of Medicine, graduating, M.D., 1889; married at Detroit, Apr. 15, 1890, Bessie M. Scotten. Served as house physician St. Luke's Hospital; practiced in Detroit for about ten years; administrator of the Daniel Scotten estate until its affairs were closed and has since devoted attention to management of private interests. Director National Bank of Commerce, Detroit Museum of Art. Republican. Episcopalian. Member L'Alliance Francaise, Detroit Board of Commerce. Clubs: Detroit, Detroit Racquet and Curling, Country, Automobile, Detroit Boat, Caledon Mountain Trout Club, of Ontario. Recreations: autoxnobiling, golf. Office: Ford Bldg. Residence: 1639 Jefferson Ave.
