JONES, Arthur, lawyer; born, Lansing, Mich., Aug. 17, 1861; son of Ezra and Marcia (Peet) Jones; educated in public schools of Lansing until close of school year, 1876; Bartlett Business College, Lansing, 1 year, ending, 1877; entered Michigan Agricultural College, Lansing, Mar., 1878, graduating, Aug. 6, 1881, with degree of B.; entered Law Department of University of Michigan, Oct., 1883, graduating, degree of B.L., Mar. 24, 1884; married, Dec. 2, 1885, Elizabeth Tryon Haines, of Lansing, Mich.; 4 children: Ezra H., Elizabeth H. (Mrs. Bernard J. Shelton, of Lonaconing, Md.), Arthur H., Marcia Alice. Began practice in Muskegon, Mich., 1884, and continued there until Jan. 1, 1903, when he removed to Detroit; makes specialty of municipal and private corporation law. Democrat. Member American Bar Association, Michigan State Bar Association, Association Bar City of Detroit, Detroit Board of Commerce. Member B. P. O. Elks, Knights of Pythias, Royal Arcanum, National Union. Office: 517 Majestic Bldg. Residence: 139 Pingree Ave.
