JOHNSTON, Frank Potter, manufacturer; born, Lansing, Mich.; son of Rev. Charles and Elizabeth A. (Potter) Johnston; educated at Kalamazoo College; married, Feb. 3, 1886, Anna Johnson, of Kalamazoo; 2 sons: Elwood Charles and William Durand. Began business career with the American Express Co. at Kalamazoo, 1881, continuing until 1884; in the manufacturing business with firm of B. S. Williams & Co., Kalamazoo, 1884-1901; lived in New York City, 1901-5; came to Detroit, 1906, and since vice president and general manager Detroit Screw Works; also president Employers' Association of Detroit; treasurer Manufacturers' Mutual Hospital Association, Detroit. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Republican. Episcopalian. Mason (Blue Lodge, Chapter, Commandery). Clubs: Detroit, Detroit Golf. Recreation: golf. Office: Detroit Screw Works, cor. Franklin and Riopelle Sts. Residence: Stratford Apts., Hancock Ave. and Brush St.
