JEWETT, Edward Hunting; born, Elmira, N. Y., Apr. 26, 1874; son of Arthur Le Roy and Gertrude (Mulford) Jewett; educated in Chicago public schools and University of Notre Dame, graduating, degree of B.S., 1894; married, Detroit, June 5, 1900, Emma F. Farwell. Began as member of firm of H. M. Jewett & Co., miners and wholesale dealers in coal, 1894, name of firm becoming Jewett, Bigelow & Brooks, 1896, which has since continued and of which is vice president. Also vice-president J. B. B. Colleries Co., Maher Coal and Coke Co., Twin Branch Mining Co., Paige Motor Car Co.; director Big Sandy Coal and Coke Co. Was member Detroit Naval Reserves during Spanish American War. Republican. Episcopalian. Clubs: Country, Detroit, Automobile. Recreation: outdoor sports. Office: Penobscot Bldg. Residence: 239 Burns Ave.
