CLARK, Charlemagne, proprietor The Phoenix Wire Works; born, Clarkston, Mich., Dec. 1, 1850; son of Milton H. and Hannah (Lapham) Clark; educated public schools, Clarkston; University of Michigan, 1872; married Donnie Smith, of Holly, Mich.; 1 daughter, Lillian (Mrs. E. J. Klintworth). Began active career, 1872, as bookkeeper for E. T. Barnum, wire and iron works, Detroit, continuing until 1885; associated with two others and founded the Phoenix Wire Works, 1885; has been sole proprietor same since 1888. Independent in politics. Member Detroit Board of Commerce, Detroit Builders' and Traders' Exchange, Milwaukee Junction Manufacturers' Association. Recreations: automobiling and theater. Office: The Phoenix Wire Works, 538 Kirby Ave., cor. Dequindre. Residence: 44 Delaware Ave.
