CHAPMAN, Washington Hobert, mechanical and electrical engineer; born, Berlin Township, Monroe Co., Mich., Dec. 27, 1876; son of Hiram Robert and Martha (Moore) Chapman; descendant of Joseph Chapman, of Massachusetts; B.Pd., Michigan State Normal College, Ypsilanti, 1896; B.S., in engineering, University of Michigan, 1901; married, June 20, 1900, Josephine W. Fick, of Gregory, Mich.; children: Lucile B, and Clarence W. Began active career as draftsman for Field & Hinchman, 1901; superintendent for same firm 1901-2; chief draftsman, Field, Hinchman & Smith, 1903-4; engineer for same, 1904-6; engineer for Smith, Hinchman & Grylls, 1906-10; mechanical and electrical engineer for W. E. Good Co., engineers and constructors, to Apr. 1, 1910; since conducting consulting mechanical and electrical engineering business under name of W. H. Chapman & Co. Consulting and supervising engineer for heating and ventilating, illumination, power generation and transmission, water supply, drainage, etc. Republican. Presbyterian. Member Detroit Engineering Society. Member Detroit Board of Commerce, Y. M. C. A. Mason (Phoenix Lodge No. 13, Ypsilanti). Club: Business Men's. Recreations: automobiling and volley ball. Office: 724 Hammond Bldg. Residence: 138 Hazelwood Ave.
