Y, Jan. 2, 1859; son of William M. and Elizabeth (Carr) Chapin; educated district schools; State Normal School, Ypsilanti; A.B., University of Michigan, 1886; married, Oct. 12, 1897, Florence Collier, of Detroit; four children: Marguerite, Elizabeth Adelaide, Florence, Donald M. Lived on farm in Wayne County until taking up study of law; admitted to Michigan bar in 1887 and since practiced in Detroit; judge of Recorder's Court, City of Detroit, 1893-1900. Republican. 32° Mason, Shriner. Clubs: Lawyers', Detroit Boat, Detroit Athletic Association, University of Michigan. Recreation: farm life. Office: 813-821 Free Press Bldg. Residence: 60 Smith Ave.
