CAUGHEY, Frank T., grain commission; born in Ashtabula County, o., June 21, 1853; son of Samuel S. and Nancy (Davidson) Caughey; educated in public schools of Ashtabula County, and at Pennsylvania State Normal School; married, Union City, Mich., May 24, 1883, Delia A. Shumway. Located in Union City and began clerking in general store, 1870; traveling hardware salesman, 1873-76; began in grain and seed shipping, 1876; removed to Detroit and was special partner of Gillett & Hall, 1888-93; in business alone, 1893-95; member of the firm of Caughey & Carran, grain, commission merchants, 1895-1912; firm incorporated, 1912, as Caughey, Carran & Co., of which is president. Member Detroit Board of Commerce, Detroit Board of Trade (president, 1897, 1898 and 1903). Mason, Knights Templar, Shriner. Clubs: Detroit, Fellowcraft. Recreations: automobiliug, boating and fishing. Office: 620 Chamber of Commerce. Residence: Grosse Pointe, Mich.
