CASSITY, Stephen Albert, manager Spencer Hat Co.; born, Clark County, Ky., Aug. 27, 1877; son of Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth (Pendleton) Cassity; ancestors Scotch-Irish on father's side, Welsh on mother's side; common school education; married, Jan. 18, 1905, Alma Brockinan, of Louisville, Ky. Began active career in employ of the Mammoth Shoe & Clothing Co., Louisville, 1893, continuing seven years; then with C. B. Smith Sons, hatters, Louisville, six years; organized the Spencer Hat Co., of which was secretary and treasurer, 1903-9; organized, 1910, the Cassity Beck Co., of Louisville, and was president of same for three years; removed to Detroit, and has been manager of the Spencer Hat Co. since Jan. 20, 1913. Progressive. Methodist. Me m b e r Louisville Lodge No. 8, B. P. O. Elks. Club: Rotary. Recreation: outdoor sports. Office: 223 Woodward Ave. Residence: Hart Apts., 185 Clifford Street.
