Clerk in general merchandise store, Clarkston, Mich., 1871-83; removed to Detroit and was with Lichtenberg & Sons, general commission merchants, 1883-87; traveling salesman for George C. Langdon, malt operator, 1887-90; member firm of Carran & Conn, grain commission, 1890-95; member firm of Caughey & Carran, grain, seeds, commission, 1895-1912; vice president Caugliey, Carran & Co. since July 1, 1912. Member Detroit Board of Trade. Mason. Clubs: Detroit, Detroit Athletic, Harmonie. Recreation: yachting. Office: 625 Port St. W. Residence: 150 Forest Avenue W.
