CAIN, James Walker, mechanical engineer; born, Tyler, Tex., Sept. 16, 1882; son of Benjamin Butler and Ellen M. (Walker) Cain; educated in public schools, Tyler; Bingham School, Asheville, N. C., 1897-99; Purdue University, Lafayette, Ind., 1901-5; unmarried. Began as assistant engineer of tests, A., T. & S. P. Ry., Topeka, Kan., continuing, 1905-6; assistant to vice president, Gulf, Texas & Western Ry., 1906-7; mechanical engineer, McCord & Co., 1907-9; Western sales agent, MeCord Manufacturing Co., manufacturers automobile accessories, 1909-12, and chief engineer same company since 1912; also director Gulf, Texas & Western By. Democrat. Methodist. Member Society of Automobile Engineers, Detroit Board of Commerce, Kappa Sigma fraternity. Clubs: University, Wolverine, Country. Recreations: automobiling and golf. Office: McCord Manufacturing' Co., 2587 E. Grand Boul. Residence: Addison Apartments.
