in direct descent from Elder William Brewster, of Massachusetts; educated Miami Avenue public school; Irving School,
Detroit High School, two years; Detroit University School (then Detroit School for Boys); University of Michigan,
two years, class of 1899; married, Oct. 30, 1901, Ada Mary Lathrop, of Detroit; one daughter, ELizabeth Lathrop.
Began active career in wholesale grocery business as clerk with father, firm Lee & Cady; after four years as
bill clerk, entry clerk, buyer, assistant bookkeeper, etc., traveled for three years selling city down town trade;
resigned and engaged in grocery brokerage business for nine months for self. Then took up advertising, which he
has since followed under firm name of Guy Brewster Cady & Staff. Is sole owner of business, which consists
in designing advertising displays for windows and counters, etc., to suit the business of customers; also owns
business of Cady & Knapp fac-simile-letters advertising service. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Congregationalist.
Member Fine Arts Society, Society of Arts and Crafts, Sons of American Revolution, Sons of Colonial Wars, Dramatic
League. Member Beta Theta Pi, Theta Nu Epsilon fraternities, both of University of Michigan, Lambda Sigma of Detroit
High School. Clubs: Detroit, Detroit Boat, Detroit Athletic, Detroit Tennis, Adcraft, Rotary, Players. Recreations:
