CADY, David D., wholesale grocer; born, Plymouth, Mich., Jan. 20, 1847; son of David and Lomira Cady; educated in public schools of Ypsilanti and Detroit; married at Detroit, 1868, Elizabeth H. Brewster; four children: Mabel H., Guy B., Elizabeth Jenks, Hal. D. Has been a resident of Detroit since 1862; began in grocery business in Detroit, 1871; member firm of W. J. Gould & Co., 1887-92, Lee & Cady, 1892-1907; vice president Lee, Cady & Smart, 1907-9, since vice president Lee & Cady, the company, in addition to the parent organization, owning and operating: Lee & Cady, Saginaw; Ray City Grocery Company, Bay City; Valley City Coffee and Spice Mills, Saginaw; Lee & Cady, Kalamazoo; also director Standard Saving & Loan Association of Detroit. Member Masonic order (32°), Knights Templar, Shrine. Clubs: Detroit, Country, Old Club. Recreations: fishing, automobiling. Office: 524-534 Fort St. W. Residence: 57 Watson St.
