BUTTERFIELD, Ora Elmer, lawyer; born at Brattleboro, Vt., Nov. 9, 1870; son of Oscar Howland and Rosalia Edna (Elmer) Butterfield; graduated Brattleboro High School, Child's Business College, Springfield, Mass.; LL.B., University of Michigan, 1891; married, Sept. 14, 1893, Amy lola Dunklee, of Brattleboro. Admitted to Michigan bar, 1891, and practiced in Ann Arbor until 1902; served as Circuit Court commissioner, city attorney and alderman; local attorney Michigan Central R. R., 1896-1902; general attorney same, Detroit, 1902.9; assistant general solicitor, N. Y. C. & H. R. R. R. (entire system), Jan. 1, 1909; now devoting entire attention to state and federal regulation of railways. Vice president National Convention of Universalists. Trustee Detroit Universalist Society. Republican. Member American Historical Association, Phi Delta Phi. Office: LaSalle St. Station, Chicago. Residence: 93 Putnam Ave., Detroit.
