BURTON, Charles Ward, lawyer and real estate business; born, Detroit, June 12, 1876; son of Clarence Monroe and Harriett Jane (Nye) Burton; descended on mother's side from William Brewster, John Alden, Miles Standish of the Mayflower; attended Detroit High School; B. Litt., University of Mich., 1898; LL. B., Detroit College of Law, 1901; married, Jan. 18, 1899, Rose Widenman, of Detroit; two children: Phyllis and Priscilla. Was connected with the Burton Abstract Office, June, 1898 - July, 1912; presiaent of Marshland Boulevard Land Co. since 1910; president Burton, Weiss & Co., Burton Realty Co.; vice president Benham Manufacturing Co., Grosse Pointe Lumber Co.; director American State Bank,' First State Bank of Leesville, Continental Real Estate Trust Co. Alderman Second Ward of Detroit since 1905; president Common Council, 1913. Republican. Member Y. M. C. A. Clubs: Fellowcraft, Rotary, Harmonic, Motor Boat, Detroit Yacht. Recreations: fishing and automobiling. Office: 1734 Dime Savings Bank Bldg. Residence: 54 West Euclid Ave.
