BURNS, John McNeil, lawyer; born, Port Enron, Mich., July 1, 1882; son of John W. and Fanny Williams (McNeil) Burns; graduated High School, Port Huron, 1901; student Law Department, University of Michgian, 1902-3; LL.B., Detroit College of Law, 1906; married, June 19, 1912, Hattie Rood Grace, of Detroit. Worked for newspapers, including Detroit Evening News and Detroit Journal, college vacations; city manager Wilbur Mercantile Agency, Detroit, part of 1904-5; with Bradstreet Co., Detroit office, 1906-8; admitted to Michigan bar, 1906, and began practice, 1908. Director Detroit Underwriters' Co. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Served in the Michigan National Guard mostly as a noncommissioned officer, 1902-6. Episcopalian. Member Association Bar City of Detroit, Lawyers' Club of Detroit, Commercial Law League of America, Phi Kappa Delta. Mason. Recreation: yachting. Office: 619 Moffat Bldg. Residence: 1120 Cass Ave.
