W. and Chloe (Richards) Burgess; educated in public schools of Flint, Mich., and at University of Chicago; married at Flint, June 7, 1893, Melva Smith; three children: Elizabeth M., Miriam, Frederic S., Jr. In life insurance business at Marquette, Mich., 1891-97, Milwaukee and Chicago, 1897-99; came to Detroit, 1900, as general agent of the Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Philadelphia; member of the firm of Waite & Burgess, 1906-8; manager of department of Michigan for the Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance Co., 1906-8; since vice president Trojan Laundry Co. Member Michigan National Guard for eight years. Republican. Episcopalian. Mason (32°), Shriner; member B. P. O. E., Knights of Pythias. Clubs: Fellowcraft, North Channel (director). Recreations: fishing and hunting. Office: Woodward and. Harper Ayes. Residence: 73 Bethune Ave. E.
