BURCH, Edwin Augustus, wholesale liquors; born, Westminster, Ont., Can., Jan. 12, 1857; son of Charles P. and Eliza A. (Jarvis) Burch; came to Michigan, 1867; educated in public schools of Lambeth, Ont., Ovid, Mich., and Lansing (Mich.) High School; married at Detroit, Oct. 13, 1879, Mary A. Healey; one daughter, Grace H. Burch. Began active career at age of 15 as clerk in jewelry and stationary store; was connected with grocery business at 17, bookkeeper wholesale liquors at 18, and has been partner in the business since age of 23. President of C. H. Ritter & Co., established 1882. Also president Detroit Metal Spinning Co.; vice president German American Bank; director American Lubricating Co. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Episcopalian. Member Masonic order, Knights Templar. Clubs: Detroit, Fellowcraft, Detroit Boat, Rushmere, Country. Recreations: golf and traveling. Office: 142-144 Jefferson Ave. Residence: 43 Davenport St.
