BREDE, John Conrad, merchant and lute. nor decorator; born, Detroit, Oct. 16, 1858; son of John J. and Marie (Scherer) Brede; educated German American Seminary and publie schools, Detroit; married, Oct. 2, 1882, Bertha Reuther, of Detroit; eight children: Herman F., Lena, Hertha, Hulda, Richard A., Erwin, Marie, Minnie. Started in business as painter and decorator under the firm name of Weitz & Brede, Mar., 1882, continued until July, 1895; then took in present partner and the firm has since been Brede & Sehroeter, interior decorators and dealers in imported wall hangings, special furniture, window shades, draperies, etc. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Member State Militia six years. Republican. Scottish Rite Mason, K. T., Shriner. Member National Union, American Insurance Union, Harmonie Society, German Salesmen's Association. Office: 20 Adams Ave. W. Residence: 55 Melbourne Ave.
