BOYLE, John Arthur, vice president and general manager Briscoe Manufacturing Co.; born, Albany, N. Y., July 21, 1848; son of Arthur and Mary (McCullough) Boyle; educated in public schools, Albany; married, Aug. 14, 1876, Cornelia Desotell, of Detroit; two daughters: Blanche C. (Mrs. Earl M. Brown, of Los Angeles, Cal.), Florence M. Began active career in hardware business at Albany, N. Y.; removed to Detroit, 1868, and for twenty years was with Standart Bros., wholesale hardware; office manager of the Detroit Galvanizing & Sheet Metal Works, 1888-1901, when the concern was merged into the Briscoe Manufacturing Co., manufacturers sheet metal goods, japanning and automobile parts, of which has been vice president and general manager since 1908; also vice president Briggs Detroiter Co., manufacturers of automobiles. Democrat. Episcopalian. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Member Palestine Lodge No. 357, A. F. & A. M. Clubs: Detroit Athletic, Wolverine Automobile. Recreations: automobiliug and fishing. Office: 1443 Woodward Ave. Residence: 648 Champlain St.
