BOWEN, Floyd Eugene, wholesale merchandise brokerage; born, Liverpool, N. Y., Jan. 10, 1854; son of George Washington and Marietta (Vroman) Bowen; educated public schools, Fayetteville, N. Y., and Grass Lake, Mich., to 1871; University of Michigan, one year; Bryant & Stratton Business College, Detroit; married, Dec. 25, 1886, Julia M. Browning, of Maysville, Ky.; two children: Francis Browning, Edward Woodville. Bookkeeper for Max Meyer & Bro., Omaha, 1878-82; bookkeeper for Pacific Express Co., auditor's office, 1882-84; traveling salesman, wholesale grocery houses, out of Omaha and St. Joseph, Mo., 1884-87; started in merchandise brokerage business in Omaha, 1887; moved to Detroit, 1890, and since continued in same line of business, as Floyd E. Bowen & Co. Vicepresident American Realty Syndicate; director Del Pasco Mines Co. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Protestant. Mason. Club: Wolverine Automobile. Recreation: baseball.
