Bond; descended from the Pendarvis's of South Carolina (1670) and the Screvens family of Georgia; educated in public
schools; married, New York, Dec. 25, 1906, Helen Giddings, of Oberlin, O. Began active career as a traveling salesman
for Tucker & Co., of Baltimore, remaining seven years; entered railroad service with the Central of Georgia
Railroad Co., at Savannah, Ga., as a clerk, held various positions until breaking out of Spanish American War;
after returning from the war became associated with the Georgia Export & Import Co., Savannah; in 1900 again
became connected with Central of Georgia Railroad Co., in the auditing department; entered life insurance business
at Savannah, 1902; district agent at Glens Falls, N. Y., of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., 1905-10, also
general agent Maryland Casualty Co., and Fidelity & Deposit Co. of Baltimore, and the Employers' Liability
Co. of London, England; district agent at Detroit for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Milwaukee, since
Oct. 1, 1910. Member Special District Agents' Association and Detroit Branch, National Underwriters' Association.
Served in the volunteer militia of Georgia for twenty three years; veteran Spanish American War, 2d Ga. Regt. Inf.
Episcopalian. Recreations: fishing and hunting. Office: 619 Hammond Bldg. Residence: The Palms Apts.
