BLACKWELL, Henry, dry goods; born, Limerick, Ireland, Apr. 1, 1861; son of Henry and Mary (Sheehy) Blackwell; educated in National schools of Ireland; married, Ireland, 1888, Mary A. Quaide (died, 1908); second, Detroit, Oct. 20, 1909, Clara May Crimmins; three sons: Henry William, Thomas Francis, William Edward. Began active career, 1878, as clerk in mercantile house in Limerick; came to America, 1890, and lived in New York City for two years; located in Detroit, 1892, and was for a number of years identifled with Partridge & Co.; joined with Mr. Partridge, 1901, in organizing the general merchandise firm of Partridge & Blackwell, of which was junior partner until firm was incorporated, Sept., 1909, as The Henry Blackwell Co., dry goods, and is treasurer same. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Catholic. Member Knights of Columbus, Knights of Equity, A. O. H., C. M. B. A. Recreations: hunting and outdoor sports. Office: 155-157 Woodward Ave. Residence: 36 Webb Ave.
