BLACK, Edwin, chief engineer Central Heating Co.; born, Arbroath, Scotland, Sept. 28, 1866; son of John and Elizabeth (Kidd) Black; educated in public and high schools, Arbroath; married Anna Mitchell, of Arbroath, Jan., 1896; one child, Edwina Victoria. Learned machinist's trade in Scotland and worked at trade in the old country; came to America, 1888, and located in Detroit; studied marine engineering and followed lakes for ten years; was chief engineer for M. A. Bradley, vessel owner, of Cleveland; became connected with Edison Illuminating Co. and Central Heating Co., Oct., 1904, and is now chief engineer same. Presbyterian. Member Detroit Engineering Society, Edison Power Club. Odd Fellow. Recreation: baseball. Office: 115 Farmer St. Residence: 1352 Wabash Ave.
