High School, Newark; graduated Chestnut Grove Seminary, Saratoga, N. Y.; LL.B., from Syracuse (N. Y.) University,
1904; unmarried. Previous to entering upon the study of law was engaged with his father in the florist business
at Saratoga, N. Y.; practiced law at New York City, 1894-98, at Little Rock, Ark., 1898-1905, since in Detroit;
nominee on Republican ticket for state legislature, 1906, and for justice of Supreme Court, 1907 (polled full party
vote, but was defeated); nominee on Republican ticket for Congress from First Michigan District, 1912. Methodist.
