BEE, William Edward, mechanical engineer; born, Wyandotte, Mich., June 30, 1870; son of Isaac and Emma (Newman) Bee; educated in public schools of Detroit; married at Detroit, Oct. 20, 1891, Susie M. Leckie; two children: Clarence Leckie, George Alexander. Began active career as machinist's apprentice with Detroit Steel and Spring Works, 1885, and continued until 1890, advancing to position of assistant foreman; in employ of Gates Iron Works, Chicago, as draftsman, becoming mechanical engineer, 1891-96; with the Webster Manufacturing Co., Chicago, as chief engineer and superintendent, 1897-1903; has been treasurer and manager Palmer Bee Co., manufacturing and selling power transmission and elevating and conveying machinery, De troit, since 1904; also vice president Park Chemical Co.; treasurer Michigan Bow Socket Co.; secretary Wayne Belting Co. Republican. Congregationalist. Member Masonic order, I. O. O. F. Member Detroit Board of Commerce, Detroit Engineering Society. Clubs: Fellowcraft (board of governors), Detroit Motor Boat. Recreation: outdoor sports. Office: 56-58 Woodward Ave. Residence: 100 Josephine Ave.
