BECK, Thomas Edward, treasurer Detroit Mantel & Tile Co.; born, Big Lake, Minn., May 12, 1869; son of William Brown and Charlotte (Davey) Beck; educated public schools, Big Lake and Detroit; married Amy C. Thomas, of Detroit, Nov. 4, 1892. Came to Detroit from Minnesota, 1882; was with McDonald Bros. & Co., mantels and tiles, three years; in Chicago one year, completing trade of tile layer; superintendent Billings & Drew Co., Detroit, 1891-98; organizer Detroit Mantel & Tile Co., 1898, and treasurer of the company since its incorporation, 1907. President Builders' Section, Employers' Association. President Central District Mantel & Tile Contractors' Association; treasurer Tile Dealers' Credit Association; secretary Building Trades Employers' Executive Board. Republican. Presbyterian. Member German American Association. Recreations: automobiling and fishing. Office: 116 Broadway. Residence: 212 La Mothe Ave.
