Joshua Richardson and Martha Ann (Southworth) Bartlett; of English and Colonial ancestry; descendant of Partridge family and on mother's side of Alice Southworth, widow of Edward Southworth (Eng.) and second wife of William Bradford, governor of Plymouth Colony; educated common and graded schools; Worcester (Mass.) High School; University of Michigan, Literary Department, 1893-95, Law Department, LL.B., 1898; married, Dec. 12, 1900, Bess Bingham Stevens, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; children: Laura, Edwin S., Jr. Began practice of law in Massachusetts, 1898, later practiced in Pennsylvania; resident of Detroit since 1906; director Michigan Pressed Steel Co. Progressive. Methodist. Member Association of Bar of City of Detroit. Member Detroit Lodge No. 2, F. & A. M.; Wayne Lodge No. 104, Knights of Pythias; Wayne Company No. 64, Uniform Rank, K. of P.; State Camp No. 1, Sons of Veterans. Recreations: outdoor diversions. Office: 502 Hammond Bldg., Detroit.
