BARLUM, Thomas, meats and provisions; born, County Limerick, Ireland, Nov., 1841; son of Patrick and Catherine Barlum; came to Detroit, 1852; educated in public schools of Detroit; married at Detroit, 1860, Bridget McNamara; nine children: Katherine (Mrs. Charles F. Bielman), Agnes (Mrs. Harry J. Fox), Cora (Mrs. C. W. Packard, of Saginaw, Mich.), Ellen (Mrs. George Finn), Clara, John J., Louis, Thomas J., Maude (deceased). Has been identified with meat business since the beginning of his active career, and in his own name since 1862; head of the firm of Thomas Barlum & Sons, wholesale and retail dealers and packers. Member Pool Commission since 1899. Democrat. Catholic. Member B. P. O. E. Recreation: travel. Offices: Central Market and 350 Grand River Ave. Residence: 550 12th St.
