BARBOUR, William Tefft, president Detroit Stove Works; born, Detroit, Apr. 4, 1877; son of Edwin S. and Ella (Tefft) Barbour; graduate Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass., 1895; married at Detroit, June 10, 1902, Margaret Chittenden; four children: Irene T., Ella C., William T., Jr., Alpheus W. Began active career, 1895, as purchasing agent of the Detroit Stove Works, became vice president and has been president of the company since 1897. Also president Bloomfield Hills Seminary, Birmingham, Mich.; vice president Detroit Manufacturers' Railroad; director People's State Bank, Detroit Fire & Marine Insurance Co., Woodlawn Cemetery Association, Security Trust Co. (advisory committee), Children's Free Hospital (advisory committee); trustee Grace Hospital. Member Detroit Board of Commerce. Clubs: Detroit, Detroit Athletic, Detroit Racquet and Curling, Yondotega, Country, Bloomfield Hills Country, Detroit Boat, Automobile, and Pointe Mouillee Shooting. Recreations: shooting, fishing and raising of Guernsey cattle. Office: 1320-1360 Jefferson Ave. Sunmer Residence: Birmingham, Mich.
