ASMUS, Louis, wholesale teas and coffees; born, Germany, July 30, 1864; son of August and Matilda (Grube) Asmus; educated in public schools, Tavistock, Out., Can.; married, 1889, Bertha Lowien, of Detroit (died, 1906); two children: Alma, Marvin; married, 2d, 1908, Minnie Schiebel, of Buffalo, N. Y.; two children: Howard, Louis, Jr. Began active career in general store with father, in Tavistock, at age of 16; came to Detroit, 1888, and entered employ of C. H. Mitchell, teas and coffees, then with a New York and Philadelphia tea and coffee house as traveling salesman; entered business on own account, 1896, and in 1901 admitted brother, John A., to partnership, since operating as Asmus Bros. Republican. Lutheran. 32° Mason, Shriner. Office: 455-457 Gratiot Ave. Residence: 774 Helen Ave.
