JACOB SHOEMAKER was born on the Atlantic Ocean, July 30, 1833, going at once to Riley township, in Sandusky county, Ohio, with his parents, Jacob and Magdalena (Goetz) Shoemaker, where he lived until 1884, when he came to Exeter. June 22, 1857, he was married to Rosina, daughter of Antoine and Catherine Lammerstow. Politically he is a Decocrat. In religion he worships with the Lutherans. He is the father of eleven children: Levi Henry, born November 20, 1857; Charles Jacob, July 5, 1859; Andrew Jackson, August 24, 1861; Franklin, February 27, 1864, Amelia. November 12, 1865; Luther Albert, September 8, 1867; John William, January 24, 1868; Ida Rosetta, July 24, 1870; Edward, July 18, 1872 (died October 1, 1876); David, March 1, 1874; Cora Alvina, October 28. 1876 (died March 19, 1879).
