WILLIAM POWLESLAND was born in Devonshire, England, June 15. 1825, and came to America with his parents, William and Grace (Powlesland) Powlesland, in 1849. In October, 1850, he married Jane, daughter of Charles and Grace (Barnes) Mortimore, and lived in Monroe two years. He then moved to Erie, where he lived three years. and in 1856 settled on section 5 in Bedford. His only child, Georgiana Caroline, was born June 18, 1852, and is now living in the township of Ida, the wife of Franklin G. Jackinan. Mr. Powlesland is a member of Russell Lodge of Free Masons, in which he was treasurer for many years. Politically be is a Democrat, and for thirteen years was treasurer of the school board in his district.
