EDWARD NOLEN, a successful farmer of Exeter. was born in Ireland, September, 1832. When nineteen years of age
he came to America, locating in Indiana, where he remained four years. Two years of the time he was employed by
what was at that time called the Ohio and Mississippi Railroad. In the fall of 1856 he came to Michigan, renting
a farm in Exeter. Two years later he purchased a farm of forty acres of land. August 11. 1858, be married Julia
Crimmons, who was born in Ireland in May, 1832. Five children were born to them. Mr. Nolen's farm now consists
of one hundred acres, eighty of which are under cultivation.
