NELSON JARBOE was born at Washington, D. C., October, 1809. His parents were Matthew and Elizabeth (Nelson)
Jarboe, who were natives of Maryland. He married Katherine Moon, of Washington, D. C. Eleven children were born.
Mr. Jarboe moved to Monroe county in 1834. He was engaged in sailing on Lake Erie, and for some time was captiin
of boat playing between Mouroe and Buffalo. In 1840 he engaged in farming in Lenawee county, Michigan. After ten
years he returned to Monroe. In 1871 he sold his firm and moved to Monroe City; for a number of years held town
offices. He died July 31, 1879. Mrs. Jarboe died February 2, 1887. She was an active member of the Baptist church.
