HIRAM JACOBS, of Milan, was born at Raisinville, Monroe county; March 19,1835. At the age of 16 he left home
to learn the blacksmith's trade. He married Eliza Childs, of Milan. To them eight children were born, five of whom
are living. Mr. Jacobs enlisted in Co. I, 15th Mich. Inf., as a private. On April 6, 1862, he was wounded and was
discharged in July on account of injuries received. He lived upon a farm of 40 acres until 1882, when he sold it
and came to Milan. He is a member of Taylor Post, No. 274, G. A. R., of Milan.
