ROSWELL W. GRAHAM was born in Lake county, Ohio, in 1825. His father. David Graham, was born in New Hampshire
in 1798, and came with his parents to Seneca county, N. Y., in 1799; about the year 1820 came to Lake county, Ohio,
and there married Hope Cone, by whom he has seven children, of whom Roswell W. of Whiteford, is the only surviving
one; in 1831 he came with his family from Lake county, Ohio, to this county, and located in the town of Erie, where
he purchased a farm; he served there as a magistrate, town clerk, etc.; he died in 1864 at Coldwater, Mich.; his
wife died in 1832. In 1849 Eoswell went to California and remained three years, and on his return to this county
purchased the farm on which he now resides, and with the exception of eight years in Fulton county, Ohio, has been
a resident of Whiteford to the present time. He was married in 1853 to Sarah Smith, daughter of Robert and Nancy
Smith, of Whiteford, by whom he has had nine children, six of whom are now living. In 1864 he became a traveling
agent in the division of the Mississippi, in the employ of the government, for the protection of railroad property.
With the exception of one term has held the office of magistrate for the past 20 years, and now holds that office.
