JOHN W. FILLMORE, a son of Calvin T. and Maranda Fillmore, and a nephew of ex-President Millard Fillmore, was born in Washtenaw county, Mich., in 1837. He enlisted Aug. 6, 1869, in Co. D, 20th Reg. Mich. Vol. Inf., and was discharged at Detroit, Mich., in 1863, having served over one year. He was in the battles of Antietum, South Mountain and Fredericksburg. He came to the town of Summerfield in 1868, and soon after purchased the farm of 66 acres on which he now resides. He was married in 1865 to Mrs. Margaret Fillmore, relict of Clarence Fillmore, of Washtenaw county, Mich. They have four children. He was chosen as a magistrate in 1881, and held the office four years. He is a member of Morgan Parker Post, No. 281. His parents locabed in Washtenaw county, from Buffalo, N. Y., in 1835, and lived there through life.
