Cyrus Tuthill came into the county in 1855, from Middletown, Orange County, N. Y. (where he was born in the
year 1827), and began the mercantile business in Dowagiac, which he followed for about six years. For fifteen years,
or thereabouts, farming engaged his sole attention, but for the past six he has been Secretary of the Cass County
Farmers' Mutual Insurance Company.
