William K. Palmer came to Dowagiac in 1854. He was born in Livingston County, N. Y., in 1825, and came to Teoumseh,
Mich., with his parents when a boy; in 1837, removed with them to Wayne Township, Cass County, and subsequently
to La Grange. He has been engaged in woolen manufacture, the dry goods and livery business, and is at present,
a grocer (of the firm of Mosher & Palmer.) lie was Sheriff of Cass County from 1861 to 1865, and has held several
appointive Federal offices.
