The Jones brothers, G. C., Horace C. and Azro, were from Hopkinton, Merrimack County, N. H. G. C. was the first
to emigrate to the West. He located in Cassopolis in 1846, and in 1850 removed to Dowagiac and went into business
with Joshua Lofiand and Henley Lybrook, for whom he had clerked, two years in Cassopolis. He has been actively
engaged in business until very recently when he was succeeded by his son, W. D. Azro Jones came to Dowagiac in
1855, and Horace C. in 1857. Both have been prominently identified with the mercantile and general business interests
of the town.
