William H. Watson was born in Castine in 1830; came to Bath in 1848; learned the tin and plumbing trade, and
has been in the stove and plumbing business since 1854 until the present time, with the exception of about five
years spent in the West, California, and in the army during the Civil War. He was married to Ellen C. Hatch, in
1858, and has three daughters; served as lieutenant and captain of Company D, Third Maine Infantry, in the war,
1861-2; has been a member of the City Council six years and president of the board in 1885; has served as trustee
and secretary of the Bath Military and Naval Orphan Asylum since 1882 to the present time; is an active member
of Sedgwick Post, G. A. R., and Grace Episcopal Church.
