Biography of Dr. M. H. Ferguson

Dr. M. H. Ferguson was born in Dixmont, Penobscot County, May 31, 1855. His father is the Hon. W. B. Ferguson of Brewer; his mother, now dead, was Rebecca Goodwin of Monroe. Dr. Ferguson was educated in the public schools and at the Maine Central Institute. He taught school for seven winters in Veazie, Winterport, Frankfort, and Belfast. He studied medicine with Dr. A. C. Hamlin, in Bangor, and graduated at Dartmouth Medical College in 1879. In 1886 he took a post graduate course in New York City at the New York Poly Clinic. Dr. Ferguson has practiced medicine in Phipsburg since 1880, and served the town as selectman, auditor, health officer, and for ten years as supervisor of schools. In 1887 and 1893 he represented the town of Phipsburg in the State Legislature. He has had a large practice in the town, and is often called to Georgetown, Harpswell, Bath, Woolwich, West Bath, and Arrowsic.
