MARTIN KENDAL, son of Adam and Ararninta (McKinley) Kendal, was born in Fayette County, Ind., February 19, 1833.
Here he lived until he was ten years of age, when he removed with his parents to Henry County, Ind., and was there
reared and educated; he has always followed agricultural pursuits, and was a renter until 1850, when he came to
Tipton County and purchased 160 acres of wild land, upon which he still lives; he has improved and added to this,
and now has a fine farm of 200 acres, with an eight room brick dwelling, and all necessary outbuildings. Mr. Kendal
began life a poor man, but has been successful, and has accumulated sufficient means to enable him to live comfortably.
He is a member of the Republican party, and has served as Supervisor for some time. Mr. Kendal was married in Tipton
County, Ind., to Miss Louisa J. Walker, daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Goat) Walker. She was born in Monroe
County, Va., February 24, 1829. This union has been blessed with eight children-Mary E., Melvina, Nancy E., Sarah
C., Henry A., Martha A. (deceased), Willis A. and Nora J.
