HUGH DICKEY, ex Treasurer and ex Sheriff of Tipton County, was born in Fayette County, Ind., March 7, 1820,
and was reared on a farm in his native county. In 1852, he came to Tipton County and settled on 160 acres of timbered
land in Cicero Township. He now owns 280 acres, 200 of which are under cultivation and the remainder in pasture,
well set with blue grass, and his farm is well drained with tile. Mr. Dickey is a Democrat in politics, and was
elected by his party to the office of Sheriff, in 1862, and was reelected in 1864. He was elected Treasurer of
Tipton County in 1866, and served one term of two years. He was married in Fayette County, Ind., February 15, 1844,
to Miss Hannah Manlove. They have two sons, George A., a farmer, residing on the home farm, and Andrew S., a physician,
residing in Tipton.
