Charles Schroeder was born in Germany in the year 1833. His parents, Henry and Henrietta Schroeder, were also
natives of Germany; he came to this country in 1857, and settled in St. Joseph county, where he still resides,
engaged in farming and stock-raising. He was married in April, 1857, to Miss Mary Stieme, a native of Germany.
Of their 9 children 8 are living, viz.: Frederick, Mary (Mrs: Rute Sellers), Anna, Charley, Henry, Sarah, Harmon
and Ettie. Mr. S. owns 160 acres of land, worth $60 per acre.
