JOHN E. WILSON was born in Wayne County, Va., in 1843; is the son of Samuel and Eliza Wilson, and is of English
descent; he was two years of age when his parents moved to Tennessee, from which State they came to Howard County,
Ind., in 1849, and took a lease on the old Kyger farm in Harrison Township. Mr. Wilson availed himself of all the
advantages afforded by the schools of the day, attending from the age of six until twenty. In 1853, the family
moved to the Spring farm, where the father died when our subject was eighteen. For a time, John E. leased the home
place, but it was soon after divided, John E. taking the east half, and his brother Charles the west half. Mr.
Wilson was married in 1864 to Martha Beeks, of Attica, Ind., and to this marriage have been born six children -
William, Charles, Frank, Lora, Louie and John. Mr. W. is a member of the I. O. O. F., and also an active member
