WILLIAM JOHNSON was born on the farm where he now lives, September 30, 1848. He lived at home, and received
a common school education, and worked on the farm until he was married, December 19, 1874, to Miss Eliza E. Young,
of iloward County. She was born in Franklin County, Ind., August 3, 1855, and was the daughter of Henry and Eleanor
(Walker) Young, both natives of England. They emigrated to America in 1841, locating at Philadelphia, where Mr.
Young followed brush making. Thence they moved to Cincinnati, and later located in Franklin County, where Mr. Young
still lives, engaged in farming; he is a member of the Christian Church, and has reared a family of eleven children,
nine of whom are living. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson have three children; Joseph N., Dalton and Delmer, twins. Mr. Johnson
is a member of the Republican party; he was elected Township Trustee in the spring of 1880, serving one term, during
which time he built one brick schoolhouse.
