Michael O'Loughlin, section 28, township 32, Brookfield, La Salle County, was born in the County of Clare, Ireland,
Nov. 18, 1845. He came to the United States with his parents in 1849. and settled in time State of Wisconsin, from
thence to La Salle County, Ill., in 1866. His parents, Andrew and Ellen O'Loughlin, lived in Brookifeld until 1882,
then retired from the farm and are now living in Chicago. The subject of this sketch, with rather limited means
to begin with, has acquired a very fair share of the world's goods, and, better still, a good name. He owns at
present 400 acres of laud, all under a good state of cultivation. In 1869 Mr. O'Loughlin was married to Miss Mary
A. Carey, daughter of the late Mathew Carey, of Brookfield, who, with his brothers, were contractors on the Illinois
& Michigan Canal in 1838. She is a native of Ottawa. Mr. O'Loughlin stands well in the esteem of the people
of his township, having been elected repeatedly Supervisor, School Treasurer, and other minor offices. Mr. O'Loughlin
is ranked among Brookifeld's best citizens-public spirited and enterprising.
