A. Norris Douglas is a native of Pennsylvania, born Jan. 18, 1832, and was reared in Genesee County, N. Y. His
parents, Leander and Isabella (Norris) Douglas, were natives of Sullivan County, N. Y. The former died in August,
1872, aged seventy six years, and the latter Nov. 27, 1881, also aged seventy six years. Our subject was reared
in New York, receiving a good education. In 1863 he came to La Salle Oounty, Ill., and lived in Marseilles two
years, and in 1865 located on the farm where he now lives, on section 29, Allen Township. His home is called the
Willow Farm. He was married Dec. 16, 1858, to Jenette Lathrop, daughter of German and Eliza (Atwater) Lathrop,
her father a native of Rutland, Vt., and her mother of Wayne County, N. Y. The father died. in January, 1869, and
the mother is living in Hillsdale, Montgomery Co., Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas have had five children; but fbur
are living - Nellie E. M., wife of W. A. Funk, of Streator; Alberta N., a student at the Woman's Medical College,
Chicago; Hart Norris, born in July, 1866; Mary Etta, born Jan. 10, 1869. A daughter, Jennie L., died in infancy.
